I have had issues with a heel spur which have made it so hard to return to running. On returning I had achilles tendinitis and peroneal tendinitis which stopped me again. Physio said to get new shoes - but having always worn the same model this left me flummoxed. I did loads of research and settled on the Brooks Adrenaline which is very cushioned but also a stability shoe (I overpronate). My old shoe had a very defined heel cup which really niggled the heel spur. I've been out 3 times in my lovely new shoes (which look purple more than navy and are the prettiest I've ever had) and all is good so far.....
